Rusty (and Adam) Rock!

J's babysitters are on vacation this week, so I had to take him to the office with me today. He's a good kiddo...he plays on the computer or keeps himself pretty entertained when he is with me.

And he LOVES Rusty...one of my coworkers who is so good about paying attention to J and making him feel so important.

Well, Rusty and Adam were going to lunch together today, and Rusty asked J to go with him. Can I just tell you that it meant the world to him to be able to go with the guys out to lunch.

Isn't it funny how when someone loves your child you just appreciate and love them even more?

I have been blessed to work with such amazing people...I am surrounded by talented, smart, and amazing people.

But today, all I have to say to Rusty and Adam is a huge "Thank You!" You guys rock!

J's Fabulus Job

We live behind a putt-putt course and a fudge shop.  Every day, J takes the mail to Jacque, the fudge shop owner.  He has been doing this since just after we moved in last September.

He loves Jacque and spends lots of time up at her shop.  She is such a sweet lady, and she loves J's visits almost as much as he does!

A month ago, she started to let him push the buttons on the cash register.  He has become quite good at running the register.  :)  So, she gave him at baseball hat with the shop's logo on it.  He decided that he needed a shirt, too.  So, we enlarged her logo and made him an iron-on shirt.

Now, he gets a serious face every day after we get home.  He runs to his room, gets his hat, and says.  Well, I have to go to work.    :)

One day, a nice gentleman gave him an $18 tip.   Needless to say, J LOVES his "job."

My Little Champion

Yesterday, J. had his last baseball game for the season.  He did such a great job, and we are so proud of him.

To my boys

When I am down, you lift me up.

When I am happy, you rejoice with me.

When I am bored, you make life fun.

When I am sad, you comfort me.

When I am tired, you allow me to rest.

When I am irrational, you make things sane again.

When I am silly, you laugh with me.

You are loving, forgiving, kind, patient, fun-loving, and more than I could ever ask for or deserve.

I love you guys!

The Big, Bad B-day

Our little guy had his birthday party this weekend. It was such a great day! He had a lot of wonderful friends and family there. (We missed you Katie!).

Are you smarter than a first grader?

My son is in first grade...typical child...thinks he knows everything and then some. :)

But, he sure has taught me a lot...like why everything should be dipped in Ranch dressing, and why tank tops should be worn in the winter, and why it is reasonable to ask for a horse even though you live in the city.

Seriously, he is a giver...loves to bring me dandelions (guess he doesn't know much about what allergic means yet!). He is so happy to bring mommy a flower.

He is a forgiver. When I do something wrong, he always says, "Oh, Mom, it's okay."

He is a good friend. He hugs everyone he knows. He likes to make people happy.

He is fun. There is always something fun to do when he is around...trust me, I have learned more about sports than I ever dreamed possible.

Sometimes, I think we need to take note of the simple things. Love each other. Give instead of receive. No matter what you do, have fun. And, most importantly, forgive.

I hope to remember to be as smart as my first grader! (and the One who is our Example).

Of Fire and Lions by Mesu Andrews

Those who know me best know that I love to read. I have read a lot of Biblical/Historical fiction books in my life, and Of Fire and Lions...
